I know it’s really late to do this but I’ve never done one so I thought I’d try it. Today I’m going to tell you about my May favourites. I’ve not been using a hell of a lot recently because of my health but there are some clear front runners in the selection. I’ll try to keep it as brief as possible but still have a full spectrum of products and a wee little video too so you can just watch that if you want =s.So due to medication and general blah-ness, my skin has not been great the past 5-6 weeks. I have found that I’ve really needed some help with its condition and balancing the extreme combination skin I’ve been experiencing. The biggest thing for me has been cleansing and I have been using a lot of products that have really helped me but there are two clear favourites for this month.
For everyday use: Clearasil Ultra Overnight Wash. I use this whenever my skin is playing up and it’s great a a makeup remover. After using it, you can see and a notable difference to the skin as it looks fuller and smoother and feels fresher.
Twice a week: Decleor Experience De L’Age Resurfacing Gel (£40). This is a gel exfoliator that works in the same way a mask does. Pop it on, leave it for 5 minutes and wash it off. It’s a lot milder on the skin and if you have sensitive skin like I do, this would be a great option for you.
I’ve been trying out a new moisturiser and eye cream this month too. I haven’t done a review on them yet because they’ve had a lot more to deal with than most products I’ve tested in the past but they’re still doing a good job. Skin Doctors YouthCell Youth Activating Cream and Eye Cream have been helping me calm and hydrate the skin and depuff my eyes. There will be a full blog post soon.
On my eyes, it’s actually a bit of a surprise to me. It’s 17’s Vava Voom Mascara. I don’t usually buy drugstore brand mascaras and I think this is the second time I’ve even tried one but I’m really impressed. It’s a little bit wetter than I would usually opt for but it goes on really nicely and does add more fullness and length to the lashes. It’s about £7.50 and worth every penny.
For my lips I have two products, one for conditioning and one for beautification.
For conditioning, I’ve been using LUSH’s Lip Scrub in Mint Julips and I know it’s an old product and that I’ve blogged about it before but I usually use Fabulips but as I was in bed a lot of May, I could use Mint Julips in bed without any mess and as I’ve been using a lot of lip butter, it’s worked really well.
For colour, my favourite product will have to be L’Oreal’s Glam Shine Miss Candy in Tart Lollipop. It look outrageous and garish in the bottle but it’s actually a really nice subtle colour with a subtle shimmer and the texture is one of the best I’ve personal experienced. It’s a great colour for the summer and surprising great for a natural look.
For my nails, Seche was my big discovery in May. I bought the Seche Vite and Seche Base from Buyapower and I’m really impressed. The Base is an opaque ridge filler that goes on really nicely, protects the nails to prevent any staining and creates a nice, even base. It is white though so I would recommend using it with opaque colours. The Vite is a fast drying top coat and it’s the first time I’ve used on that works. Even after layering up polish, it dries within minutes and it’s not just touch dry. For me, it formed a barrier and prevented any and all depression marks.
Last product was my absolute saviour in May – Body Shop’s Hemp hand cream. I have a full blog post here if you want to find out why but if you do have any hand issues, give it a go.
So yeah. Here’s the video where I go into more detail (ish) and you can see the actual products.
I’m hoping to do more videos with better lighting, a better camera, better hair and hopefully a better face =S.
That’s all for today folks!
