I have a confession to make – I LOVE pandas. I have panda bags, I have panda teddies, my Twitter name (@woshixiongmao) means ‘I am a panda” and I even made up a little song about pandas when I went to San Diego Zoo which I randomly hum in the house. With this passion for the monochrome cuddle monsters, it’s no surprise that I’m really excited about the Pambassador programme in association with the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding where some lucky people will get to work with the real life, endangered pandas in their hometown. It’s a great programme and a wonderful opportunity and I have a fun giveaway to get people involved.
If you love animals and want to help raise awareness about our impact on the natural environment which is in turn impacting wildlife, then this programme is for you. I think the people running things can probably explain it a little better than I can so this is what they have to say about it:
Sponsored by the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, or Chengdu Panda Base and co-sponsored by WildAid, Chengdu Pambassador is a global program offering panda lovers around the world the chance to become a “panda ambassador” (or Pambassador) for a year. As a non-profit organization engaged in wildlife research, panda breeding, conservation education and educational tourism, the Chengdu Panda Base is looking for partners to help raise awareness for the plight of giant pandas. This is where our Pambassadors come in.
This year, the Chengdu Panda Base has launched “PandaQuest”, a competition starting on Facebook and continuing through to on-the-ground events around the world in the US, UK and Singapore and in Chengdu to create awareness about panda conservation and the Chengdu Panda Base’s goal to return pandas to the wild. Throughout the competition, participants will need to complete a variety of tasks to prove themselves worthy of becoming a Pambassador.
Each Pambassador will visit the Panda Sanctuary at the Chengdu Panda Base to learn about the conservation, research and breeding efforts carried out in Chengdu to help preserve giant pandas in China. Visit our PandaQuest Facebook app to start your quest and learn more about Pambassador – chengdupambassador.com
To help raise awareness of this programme, I have set a few tasks for you to carry out to be in with the chance to win one of the following panda prizes:
I have set up a rafflecopter competition so you have carry out whichever you please and the only mandatory entry is to Tweet about the Pambassador programme and competition. If you don’t want to win the prizes but are still interested in taking part in the Pambassador programme, then head to Facebook and join before September 30 or give me some panda hugs to help me achieve a life goal. Unfortunately, this giveaway is only available in the UK.
